DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A Dearborn Heights woman has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after police say she shot her boyfriend during an argument.
Shortly after 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 1, Dearborn Heights police officers responded to a home on Colgate Street, where the couple lives together, for a reported shooting.
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, an investigation found that 30-year-old Leah Renee Johnson and the victim were involved in a "verbal altercation" that escalated, leading to Johnson grabbing a gun and shooting her boyfriend.
The victim was found in the bedroom and was taken by EMS to a hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the neck.
Johnson has been charged with one count of Assault with Intent to Murder, and one count of Felony Firearm.
She was scheduled to be arraigned Friday afternoon in 20th District Court.
