DEARBORN (WWJ) -- The Dearborn Police Department is investigating a road rage shooting that led to the shutdown of Michigan Ave., Wednesday afternoon.

Officers responded at around 12:30 p.m. on July 28 to Michigan Avenue and Gulley Road after getting calls about gunshots in the area.

An investigation found that a confrontation between two drivers escalated. One of the drivers fired several shots at the other vehicle, police said, and the suspect drove away.

Thankfully, no one was hurt.

There was a massive police presence in the area, while officers searched for the shooter.

Police have since reopened westbound Michigan Ave., but they were still looking for the suspect at large, later in the day.

"Dearborn Police detectives are actively investigating and working to identify and locate the individual responsible. Additional information will be released as it becomes available," the Dearborn PD said, in a statement.

There is no description of the suspect or the suspect vehicle at this time.
