TAYLOR (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway into a fatal stabbing in a Downriver community over the weekend.
According to the Taylor Police Department, its officers responded at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday to reports of stabbing near Ecorse and Mayfair.
The victim was taken to a hospital where they later died of their injuries.
Police said that a suspect in the stabbing was taken into custody.
Police did not release any information about the suspect, about the victim, or about what happened, saying in a news release that detectives are "actively investigating" to determine the circumstances.
"The Taylor Police Department would like to extend its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time," police added. "We are committed to ensuring a thorough investigation and will share updates as they become available."
