DETROIT (WWJ) - A deadly house fire on the city's east side killed one person and sent a man, a woman and a child to the hospital with injuries late Monday night, fire officials confirmed.
According to Detroit Fire Chief James Harris via the Detroit News, the flames broke out at the home in the 19000 block of Hoover Street around 8 p.m. Monday evening.
Firefighters took roughly an hour and 45 minutes to subdue the blaze as it burned through the single family, 1.5 story home.
One person was confirmed dead by authorities, although details about the victim were not released.
A man, woman and child were all transported to a local hospital for treatment for their injuries -- the man is listed in critical condition, Harris said, while the woman and child are in temporary serious condition.
The home did sustain water and fire damage as crews battled the fire, but firefighters were able to contain the blaze and it did not spread to any neighboring structures, Harris said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation with the Detroit Fire Department.
No other information was released by authorities.
