'One Pride takes to the skies!': Detroit Lions to host weekend drone show over Ford Field

DETROIT (WWJ) - As the Lions take to the road for their first NFC Championship appearance in over three decades this weekend, the celebrations are sure to continue here at home.

The Lions announced one of those special events is a drone show -- presented by Bud Light -- set to dazzle the skies over Ford Field in downtown Detroit on Friday night.

According to a social media post by the organization, the Lions-themed drone show will begin at 8:30 p.m. for the public to enjoy.

The special event will pan out away from Ford Field, facing downtown, with guests asked to stay southeast of Madison Street for the show to safely operate.

Ford Field will be closed to the public with several street closures in effect during the show.

Guests are asked to be aware of the following closures:

• Brush Street between Montcalm Street and Madison Street
• Adams Street between Brush Street and Witherell Street
• John R Street between Adams Street and Madison Street

The drone show is weather-dependent. The AccuWeather forecast for downtown on Friday calls for damp and chilly conditions with on-and-off rain and drizzle. Some areas may still experience heavy fog with daytime high of 42F.

Updates about the drone show are likely to be posted on the Detroit Lions official social media pages on Facebook and X.

The NFC Championship game has the Lions traveling to the Golden Gate City to play against the 49ers at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 28.
