Detroit man facing prostitution, human trafficking charges after being arrested in Madison Heights

MADISON HEIGHTS (WWJ) — A Detroit man is behind bars after being arrested for human trafficking and prostitution in Oakland County.

Kevin Johnson, 31, was arraigned Friday on multiple felonies, including criminal sexual conduct and human trafficking causing injury, according to the Madison Heights Police Department.

Johnson allegedly human trafficked at least two people for prostitution and sexually assaulted one survivor at least twice and physically assaulted her. Authorities have not released any other details about the alleged human trafficking and prostitution operation.

Johnson’s arrest in Madison Heights came after an investigation that included the Michigan State Police and Homeland Security task forces.

Johnson has been charged with one count of torture and two counts each of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, prostitution/transporting person, prostitution/accepting earnings and human trafficking enterprise causing injury.

The torture and CSC charges are both felonies that carry a punishment of up to life in prison, while the prostitution charges are 20-year felonies and human trafficking a 15-year felony.

Johnson was also charged with assault and battery, a 93-day misdemeanor.

Johnson was given a $750,000 cash/surety bond. He remained in custody at the Oakland County Jail as of Monday morning.
