ROYAL OAK TWP. (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is jailed, awaiting charges, after it's alleged he got into a fight at a hotel, early Monday morning in Royal Oak Township.

Michigan State Police said troopers responded at around 2:20 a.m. to a call about two men fighting in the hotel lobby.

MSP said security footage showed a pistol fell on the floor during the fight. Once the fight ended, the owner grabbed the gun and left, jumped into a car, and fled the scene.

Police pulled the suspect — a 45-year-old Detroit man — over along 8 Mile Rd. near the hotel, and he was taken into custody without incident.

MSP said further investigation revealed the driver was drunk, at three times the legal limit.

He remained held later Monday while the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office was reviewing the case.

Police did not say what led to the fight.
