OAK PARK (WWJ) — A Detroit man is facing a long list of charges after leading police from multiple Metro Detroit cities on a chase in a stolen car Saturday night.

The Berkley Police Department on Monday released video of the chase that led to the arrest of 20-year-old Dazmond Morse. He was arraigned Monday on multiple charges, including fleeing and eluding and resisting and obstructing police.

Berkley police officers picked up the chase as the allegedly stolen Jeep turned south onto Greenfield Road from 12 Mile Road.

Video shows the suspect speeding down Greenfield, topping out around 85-90 mph between 12 Mile and 11 Mile before encountering heavy traffic.

As the Jeep slowed down, officers were able to immobilize the vehicle using a PIT maneuver near I-696. Video shows Morse getting out and running from police while carrying a handgun with an extended magazine.

He ran along the I-696 Service Drive until two patrol cars were able to box him in, causing him to trip and lose his hold on the gun.

Berkley police officials say Morse was in possession of a loaded Glock 23 .40 cal with 21 rounds.

Morse was arraigned Monday in 44th District Court on one count each of fourth-degree fleeing and eluding, resisting and obstructing a police officer, carrying a concealed weapon and driving on a suspended license.

Officials said Morse “has a history of weapons violations” but did not release any further details.

Authorities did not disclose his next court date.
