BIRMINGHAM (WWJ) -- An alleged "porch pirate" is facing charges in Oakland County after community members worked together to help identify him.
Robert William Foster of Detroit is facing 17 counts of larceny from mail after following an investigation that began late last year, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
In December, 2025, police said they received multiple reports of incidents items where items were delivered to residential porches and then stolen.
Detectives quickly realized these incidents were committed by the same individual, police said, and turned to the community to gather photos and videos from doorbell cameras
Ultimately, Foster was identified as a suspect and was arrested without incident, with help from Beverly Hills Public Safety,
He was arraigned at the 48th District Court on Jan. 29, issued a $25,000 personal bond with GPS tether. As a condition of his bond, Foster was also prohibited from working for any door-to-door delivery services in the future.
