DETROIT (WWJ) A Detroit man was charged with 14 felonies, including three counts of First Degree Pre-Meditated Murder, for a mass shooting that killed three and left four injured.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged Chistopher Gouch, 25, in the shooting at an "illegal party" on the city's northwest side. It happened Sunday, September 27, at approximately 7:20 a.m., on Prest in the area of Greenfield and Fenkell.
According to Worthy, this all started over a cell phone.
"A cell phone went lost or missing, or he misplaced one," Worthy said. "Seven people are shot, three are dead, over a fight between women who couldn't control their emotions because a cell phone went missing."
Prosecutors said Gouch, and the three people killed were also involved in the fight. Gouch allegedly pulled out a gun and fired multiple times. He then fled the scene.
Detroit Police officers arrested him on Tuesday, September 29, following an investigation.
The shooting claimed the lives of Ansley Harris Jr., 45, and Donhavan Gray, 36, both of Detroit, and Kevin Scott, 63, of Belleville. Officers found all three victims unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds. Medics pronounced Harris, Gray and Scott dead at the scene.
It also injured a 32-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man, both of Redford, and 30-year-old man and 28-year-old woman of Detroit.
The four surviving victims were privately conveyed to the hospital. Their conditions are unknown.
Gouch was charged with three counts of First-Degree Murder, four counts of Assault with Intent to Murder, and seven counts of Felony Firearm.
WWJ's Charlie Langton reported the deceased included a party-goer, DJ and security guard.
"Some of the most tragic events occur because a totally unrelated event spirals out of control," Worthy said. "... This was unnecessary and ridiculous and now three people will never see another day."
Prosecutors say the violence broke out over a cellphone.
