DETROIT (WWJ) -- First degree murder and other charges have been filed against a Detroit man who allegedly shot and killed his ex-wife in the basement of Henry Ford Hospital, setting off an intense manhunt in the city.

On Friday, Aug. 22, authorities said 53-year-old Mario Dewayne Green was armed with a handgun when he walked into the hospital, on West Grand Boulevard in Detroit, in search of 40-year-old Latricia Green, who was an employee there.

"He knew that he was prohibited from coming to the hospital because of his past stalking and harassment of Ms. Green at her job," according to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, in a news release Monday.

It's alleged that Mario Green went to the victim’s office, in the basement of the hospital, where he shot and killed her before fleeing the scene.

Police responded, the victim was found dead, and the hospital was placed on lockdown.

A manhunt ensued, and Mario Green was arrested early the next morning, after police found him on Lemay Street near Mack and Gratiot, about seven miles away from the crime scene.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Monday announced she has charged Mario Green with the following: First-Degree Premediated Murder, Discharge of a Firearm in a Building Causing Death, Aggravated Stalking, Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person, and four counts of Felony Firearm.

He was arranged in 36th District Court Monday and was remanded to jail without bond.

“Most people have had failed relationships of one kind or another. The result has never been violence, but unfortunately deadly violence is the remedy for some individuals. We stand with the family, friends, and coworkers of Ms. Green and will work hard to make sure justice is done,” said Worthy, in a statement.

In addition, Worthy has charged 54-year-old Anthony Lee-Lamont Barnett of Detroit in connection with the case.

It's alleged, according to Worthy's office, that Barnett helped Mario Green flee the hospital after the shooting.

He charged with Accessory After the Fact and Lying to a Police Officer.

Details about Barnett's involvement were no immediately released, with the WCPO stating that more information will be shared during future court proceedings.

Barnett' was also arraigned in 36th District Court Monday afternoon and and received a $100,000 cash bond, with a GPS tether and a curfew of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. if he is released.

Both men are set to return to court for a Probable Cause Conference on Sept. 4.
