DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is facing two counts of first degree murder in connection with two separate fatal shootings, just days apart.

Lemonte Richawn Jackson was arraigned in 36th District Court on Tuesday in both cases — one stemming from a slaying outside a Detroit nightclub, and another following an argument at a Detroit home.

Just after 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 16, it's alleged that Jackson fired a handgun at 30-year-old Rodney Carter of Detroit, in the 19940 block of Conant Street, near E. Outer Drive, before fleeing the scene.

Police arrived to find Carter on the ground outside a nightclub, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He later died in the hospital.

Less than a week later, the morning of Dec. 22, it's alleged that Jackson shot and killed 26-year-old Patrick Jones of Detroit at a home in the 12300 block of Banneker Court.

Responding just before 11 a.m. to reports of a shooting at the house, police found Jones in an upstairs bedroom suffering from a gunshot wound to the right arm and armpit. He was pronounced dead by EMS at the scene.

Police said it's beloved that there was a "verbal altercation" between the two men before Jackson pulled a gun and shot and fatally wounded Jones, before fleeing the scene.

Authorities have not said how Jackson was acquainted with his alleged victims. Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said more details about these cases will come out in court at the preliminary examination.

Along with the murder charges, Jackson is facing one count of felon in possession of a firearm, and two counts of felony firearm.

He was remanded to jail following his arraignment, and his next court appearance was scheduled for Jan. 31.

If convicted on either or both charges of first degree murder, Jackson faces mandatory life in prison without a chance for parole.
