DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit man is facing multiple charges after authorities say he assaulted his sister and stabbed her dog.
Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy on Wednesday announced the case against 18-year-old Joshua Shakur Leroy Cawthon, following the alleged incident on October 3.
According to investigators, Cawthon and his sister were arguing at a home on Lesure Street in Detroit, where they lived together, when the situation escalated.
Cawthon allegedly pulled out a pocketknife, threatened his sister, and then stabbed her dog.
The dog survived.
Officials said Cawthon turned himself in to police at the Detroit Detention Center on Tuesday.
He is charged with one count each of first degree killing or torturing animals, felonious assault and domestic violence.
An arraignment was scheduled in 36th District Court on Wednesday.
