Detroit Metro Airport ranks among the best in America for stress-free travel and on-time flights

DETROIT (WWJ) -- If you feel that Detroit Metro Airport does a good job of getting you where you need to go, on-time and stress-free — you’re definitely not alone.

In fact, a new ranking from the claims management company AirHelp — which focuses specifically on flight issues — puts DTW in the top three among the nation’s busiest airports for smooth travel in the skies.

The study looked at airports that had 1,000 flights or more in the month of February, and focused on the rate of flight disruptions.

Last month, Detroit Metro Airport was able to get 89.07% of its flights into the air on time, landing them at No. 3 on the list of the best airports.

The top ranking went to Savannah/Hilton Head Airport in Georgia, with McGhee Tyson Airport in Tennessee following in second place.

2. McGhee Tyson Airport in Tennessee
3. Detroit Metropolitan Airport in Michigan
4. Albany International Airport in New York
5. Memphis International Airport in Tennessee

Meanwhile, here are the 5 airports that were at the bottom of the list:

1. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport in Florida
2. Denver International Airport in Colorado
3. San Francisco International Airport in California
4. Miami International Airport in Florida
5. Palm Springs Municipal Airport in California
