Detroit police investigating after infant found dead in east side home on Sunday

DETROIT (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a tragedy on Detroit's east side over the weekend.

According to a spokesman for the Detroit Police Department, a baby was found dead inside a home on Corbett Street, in the area of near Dickerson Avenue and I-94, on Sunday.


Early reports on the incident said there were several other children, ranging up to 12 years old, in the home and the mother was asleep.

The spokesman confirmed to WWJ Newsradio 950 that a baby died in the home, but said he can't release any further information at this time. He said the department is still investigating what led up to the child's death.

The baby was said to be only three months old.
