DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a pair of suspects wanted in the carjacking and assault of a man last week, on the city's west side.
The crime took place early in the morning of Thursday, June 22, when the 32-year-old man got out of his black 2011 GMC Terrain in the area of W. McNichols and Salem, just west of Telegraph Rd.
It was around 3 a.m., police said, when the two suspects got out of a white SUV and approached the victim.
One of the suspects demanded the victim's keys before pushing him to the ground and assaulting him. He then sped away in the victim's SUV.
The other suspect got back into the white SUV and also fled the scene.
Police said victim refused medical attention.
The suspect who allegedly assaulted the man is described as a male, 6' tall with a slim build, last seen wearing a black mask and blue jeans. Police noted that he was armed.
The other suspect was also a male, around 5’9” tall, with a slim, last seen wearing a gray mask and bright colored clothing.
The Detroit Police Department did release video footage of the incident, but it's a too dark and far away to provide a good look at the suspects.
