DETROIT (WWJ) – The search is on for three suspects who jumped into a car at a gas station on Detroit’s west side and drove off with a puppy.
The incident happened around 2:30 a.m. on Jan 4 at a Citgo gas station at the corner of Chicago and Greenfield.
Detroit police released video Sunday morning showing three suspects casually strolling towards a white sedan parked at a gas pump before quickly jumping in and driving off.
Authorities say a pit bull, less than a year old, was inside the car.
It was not immediately clear whether the car was left running at the pump.
Officials have not released any details about the victim or whether anything else happened leading up to the theft.
The video includes a still shot of the suspects from the front, in hopes someone can help ID the suspects.
Police are asking anyone who recognizes these suspects to call the Commercial Auto Theft Unit at 313-596-2555 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. All Crime Stoppers tipsters will remain anonymous.
