Seen in doorbell camera footage, the man — in a black coat, black pants and a shirt with a brown image of a tree — pulls up to a home in a black vehicle. He stops, gets out, and jogs up to the house. The suspect then grabs large box of the porch, runs back to his car with it and drives away.

Anyone who can ID the man in the photos and video is asked to call Officer Balazsi of the DPD's 2nd Precinct at 313-596-5240.

As porch pirates continue to be a problem in the Detroit, the DPD offeres the following tips to help make sure your packages and holiday gifts get to you:

Stay one step ahead: Sign up for email and text updates to know your package status at all times.

Out of sight, out of mind: Request that you package be hidden on your porch on the carrier's website.

Leave nothing to chance: Make sure that someone is home to secure the package or have it shipped to package pickup locker.
