Detroit police officer hospitalized after fiery crash in Dearborn on the way to work

DEARBORN (WWJ) — A Detroit police officer is recovering after being injured in a crash on the way to work early Thursday morning in Dearborn.

The crash happened around 12:30 a.m. on Ford Road near Wyoming Avenue, according to a report from Fox 2.

The officer, who was in full uniform at the time, was driving a Honda when they hit a Chevy SUV that was pulling out of a Tim Horton’s in the area, according to the report.

The officer was initially listed in critical condition after being extricated from the car with the jaws of life, the report said.

WWJ's Charlie Langton reports the officer has since been upgraded to stable condition. The officer's name and age were not released.

The second driver was injured and listed in stable condition.

No other details surrounding the crash have been released.
