DETROIT (WWJ) — Three people are in custody after Detroit Police seized drugs, cash and more than a dozen guns during a raid earlier this week.
Detroit police officials say members of the 9th Precinct’s Special Operations Unit executed several search warrants on Wednesday. The investigation stemmed from ShotSpotter alerts and reported incidents of felonious assault.
Authorities have not released any details about those incidents that led to the raid.
While the suspects’ names have not been released, DPD officials say officers made three felony arrests, recovered 16 guns, while seizing suspected cocaine and $1,451 in cash.
“The investigation does not end after we leave a scene,” Detroit Police Chief, Todd A. Bettison said, per a press release. "It’s really just the beginning of the work, the use of technology and the follow-up to get dangerous people, weapons and drugs off our streets."
Bettison said DPD officers “will continue to diligently investigate crime to hold offenders accountable.”
