DETROIT (WWJ) An investigation is ongoing into what led to a deadly, wrong-way driving crash on I-75 in Detroit, early Tuesday morning.
According to the Michigan State Police, a 38-year-old Detroit woman was killed when a driver headed northbound on the southbound side of the freeway slammed into her vehicle, near Rosa Parks Boulevard.
The collision happened around 4 a.m. and caused both cars involved to roll over. One of them caught fire.
The suspected wrong-way driver survived the crash, and was being treated for injuries at a local hospital later Tuesday.
MSP said investigators are still working to figure out why the driver was going the wrong way.
Southbound I-75 was shut down for several hours following the crash, but all lanes have since reopened to traffic.
No names were released.
