(WWJ) The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR) warns weather conditions are right for wildfires across the state this weekend.
"Much of the state is very dry and fire danger will grow as temperatures rise over the weekend," said DNR fire specialist Jeff Vasher.
The DNR says you should never leave a fire unattended, even a campfire. Always keep a water source and a shovel nearby in case the flames get out of hand.

The burning of yard waste is not permitted in all areas of the state. In the Southern Lower Peninsula, including Metro Detroit, local fire departments and government offices issue burn permits.
If you happen to be in the Northern Lower Peninsula and the Upper Peninsula, burning of yard waste is permitted on a county-by-county basis. You see if it's allowed in your area here.
The DNR urges you to consider composting instead, which can be done safely at any time regardless of the weather.
