PONTIAC (WWJ) A shooting at a Pontiac home leaves one man dead and another in custody.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says the gunfire broke out at a home on Monroe Street, in the area of Huron and Telegraph, on Saturday, September 19 around 7:15 p.m.
According to authorities, deputies were dispatched to the home after gunshots sounded in the background of a call to the Sheriff's Operations Center. Deputies arrived and found a 39-year-old Mount Clemens Township man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. They pronounced him dead at the scene.
Authorities also found a a 31-year-old St. Clair Shores man with a gunshot to the leg. They took him into custody without incident, and he remains hospitalized and under guard. He will be lodged at the Oakland County Jail after he's medically cleared, according to sheriff's officials.
The preliminary investigation revealed the violence stemmed from a dispute between the deceased, his estranged wife and the St. Clair Shores man.
The Sheriff's Office Forensic Laboratory responded to investigate and process the scene.
According to sheriff's officials, the Oakland County Examiner's Office took custody of the deceased and will conduct an autopsy. His name was not released.
The investigation remains ongoing.
