(WWJ) A Lincoln Park man faces criminal charges following an incident where he allegedly approached police officers with a box cutter.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy charged 36-year-old Steven Strickland with one count of Felonious Assault and Resisting and Obstructing a police officer.

Police from both Lincoln Park and Allen Park were called to the area of Southfield Road and Roger Avenue the afternoon of January 4, just after 5 p.m., following reports of a man armed with a box cutter.

Authorities say they ordered Strickland to drop the box cutter, before eventually attempting to use a Taser and a shotgun on him that had non-lethal ammunition in it. Officers then fired shots after allegedly began approaching them, hitting Strickland once in the arm. Emergency responders took him to a local hospital for treatment.

Strikland was arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Wayne County's 25th District Court. He received a $40,000 cash/surety bond with a GPS tether and an alcohol tether.
