
(WWJ) A 25-year-old man is jailed on an expected charge of attempted murder after he allegedly opened fire at another man's truck in Independence Township over the weekend.
The shooting happed at around 1:15 a.m. Saturday, according to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies responding to reports of shots fired in the 4000 block of Clarkston Rd. found that a 39-year-old Independence Township man's truck had been struck by multiple bullets.
The victim told investigators that he'd just walked his girlfriend to her car when he heard a vehicle pull into the driveway.
He said the driver — whom he recognized the as his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend — began shooting at his truck, while yelling that he was about to kill him.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
An OCSO Evidence Technician recovered 12 shell casings at the scene, and found at least seven bullet holes in the truck.
A short time later, the alleged shooter turned himself in, telling investigators that he gave his gun to his mother.
Deputies responded to the mom's residence and secured the semi-auto handgun, officials said.
The suspects remained lodged in the Oakland County Jail pending an arraignment.
