DETROIT (WWJ) — A 15-year-old boy has died in what Detroit police believe was a case of a robbery gone wrong.

Just before 11 p.m. on Aug. 9, the teen allegedly tried to rob a man in his 20s near a gas station in the area of Vernor and Joseph Campau on the city’s east side.

But Detroit police officials tell WWJ Newsadio 950 the man he tried to rob was a CPL holder, who pulled out a gun and shot him. That man was taken into custody for questioning at the scene.

DPD Cpt. Todd Messenio said late Saturday night that the teen was found about four blocks from the scene of the shooting.

Another person was arrested there, but authorities have not released any information about that person. It was not clear whether they will face any charges.

The investigation is ongoing.
