DETROIT (WWJ) – Detroit police are investigating after a man charged with sexually assaulting a minor was allegedly assaulted.
Kahari Wright, 37, has been charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct of a minor, home invasion and a non-fatal shooting, Detroit police officials announced on Monday.
Authorities have not released many details in the case, but said Wright was allegedly assaulted after carrying out the alleged attack on the minor. A report from Fox 2 claims members of the girl's family chased Wright down and beat him before he was arrested.
A booking photo of Wright released on Monday shows him wearing a hospital gown with a swollen face, black eyes and a cut on his cheek.
Detectives with the Detroit Police Department's 12th Precinct are investigating the alleged retaliatory assault.
It was not immediately clear when or where the attack on the minor happened. Police officials didn't disclose the victim's age.
