Detroit Police officer arrested after alleged domestic violence incident on Christmas

DETROIT (WWJ) - A Detroit Police officer has been arrested for an alleged domestic abuse incident that occurred on Christmas, authorities said.

According to CBS Detroit, the alleged incident occurred at about 8:45 p.m. on Dec. 25 in the 11300 block of Westwood Street.

A spokesperson for the DPD confirmed the arrest. They said the officer was off-duty at the time of the alleged incident, and was placed on “administrative duty status” during the investigation.

“Pursuant to DPD policy, this matter has been turned over to Internal Affairs for investigation. A warrant request has been submitted to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for a charging decision,” the spokesperson said in a written statement. “Under no circumstances will the DPD condone acts of familial violence by any of its members.”

The investigation is ongoing.
