Detroit cops searching for shooting suspect after 2 people struck by gunfire while driving

DETROIT (WWJ) - A suspect is being sought in connection to a double non-fatal shooting that occurred while the victims were driving in Detroit nearly two weeks ago, authorities say.

According to the Detroit Police Department, a 19-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man were driving a black Dodge Journey in the area of Joy Road and Grand River Ave. on Friday, Jan. 20, when they were struck by gunfire.

The victims told police a male suspect in the rear passenger side of a silver Cadillac had shot at them. The Cadillac was described as having blue tape on top section of the windshield.

Police said the wounded pair were able to drive to the Detroit's Police Department's 10th Precinct where officer were able to medically assist them until medics arrived. The victims were then taken to a local hospital.

The woman has since been released from the hospital, authorities said, but the male victim is still undergoing treatment for his injuries.

Police are now turning to the public for help in identifying the suspect vehicle and the suspect.
