SPRINGFIELD TWP. (WWJ) – One person is dead after a fiery crash along I-75 in northern Oakland County Saturday morning.
Michigan State Police were called to northbound I-75 near Dixie Highway shortly before 6 a.m. after a driver reported seeing what they believed to be a brush fire.
When Springfield Township firefighters responded to the scene they discovered it was a car fire and requested MSP troopers at the scene.
Once the fire was put out, authorities discovered a body inside the car.
Investigators believe the driver of the car was headed north on the freeway, lost control and ran off the road, slamming into a tree and catching fire.
Authorities are not exactly sure what caused the driver to lose control.
Investigators are still working to identify the driver.
