Driver in custody after driving car into McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport, 6 people treated for injuries

(WWJ) One man is in custody after driving a car into the McNamara Terminal at Detroit Metro Airport Friday night.

The car stopped after it hit a Delta Airlines ticket counter, according to the Wayne County Airport Authority.  The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Cell phone video shot by travelers at the airport show the driver, who was wearing a Detroit Lions jersey, in handcuffs as he was escorted away by officers.

The Wayne County Airport Authority Fire Department treated six people at the scene.  Three Delta employees who encountered debris were checked by EMT, according to Delta Airlines, who referred further comment to the Airport Authority.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
