
STERLING HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A wrong-way crash in Sterling Heights has resulted in the death of one driver.
Authorities say the situation happened just after 10 p.m. on Sunday when a 50-year-old resident of Hamtramck in a silver Acura was driving east in the westbound lanes of M-59, near Mound Road.

The driver then crashed head-on with a black Chevrolet Colorado, which caused a chain-reaction involving three other vehicles.
According to officials, the wrong-way driver was taken to a local hospital, and later died from their injuries.
Another driver -- a 24-year-old from Holly -- was also hospitalized after sustaining serious injuries in the crash.
Police closed the section of westbound M-59 from Van Dyke Avenue to Dequindre Road through the early hours of Monday morning following the situation.
An investigation in underway by police to determine if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
