TROY (WWJ) -- A 21-year-old Hamtramck man is facing a drunken driving charge after police found him stopped on a freeway exit ramp in Oakland County.

At around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19, Troy Police said a "road hazard" call came in about a car that was parked on the shoulder of the southbound I-75 ramp to Rochester Road.

Responding officers approached the vehicle, a 2023 Chevrolet Camaro, and spoke with the driver who said he had a flat tire that made him lose control and go off the road.

The officers, however, found that all four tires on the car appeared to be fine.

Police said the driver smelled like alcohol, and was asked to perform some field sobriety tests. When he failed the tests, the driver took a breathalyzer which showed his BAC (blood alcohol concentration) was .137% — well over the legal limit to drive in Michigan.

The driver was arrested and transported to the Troy Police Lock-Up where a Chemical Breath Test allegedly showed results of .150% and .141% BAC.

While searching the car, officers found "multiple open bottles of vodka and other alcohol," according to the police report.

The driver was issued a citation for Operating While Intoxicated and Expired Operator License. His name was not immediately released.
