TROY (WWJ) -- A Troy man is facing a drunken driving charge after police pulled him over for speeding last weekend.

Just after 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, Troy Police said officers made a traffic stop on the driver of a 2013 Chevrolet Spark for speeding at over 100 mph on Rochester Rd., near E. Big Beaver Rd.

While speaking with the driver, a 27-year-old man from Troy, officers noted his eyes were bloodshot, watery and glassy, and it smelled like he'd been drinking.

After police said the man failed a series of sobriety tests, a preliminary breath test showed his BAC (blood alcohol concentration) was .164% — which is more than twice the legal limit to drive under Michigan law.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Troy Police Lock-Up where he agreed to submit to a Chemical Breath Test with results of .156% and .149%, police said. He was issued a citation for Operating While Intoxicated (OWI).

The man's name was not released.
