KALAMAZOO COUNTY (WWJ) - An intoxicated woman in West Michigan tried to kill herself and her two children after intentionally crashing her vehicle into a barn over the weekend, sheriff's deputies said.
According to the Kalamazoo County Sheriff's Office, the woman had been drinking as she drove with her two kids in the car just before 9 p.m. on Sunday.
As she neared the intersection of East MN Ave. and South 35th Street in Comstock Township, deputies said she veered her car off the road and crashed into a barn.
Upon investigation, police called the crash "intentional" and the woman had done it in an attempt to kill herself and her kids.
The children were not injured in the crash and all three family members were taken to the hospital as a precaution.
Police said a grandparent picked up the children while the woman was arrested and taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail -- her identity has not been released.
