(WWJ) -- A week after mass power outages affected hundreds of thousands across southeast Michigan, DTE is teaming up with local Metroparks to offer a series of free days the beach.
Free daily admission will be available at all 13 Huron-Clinton Metroparks every weekend through Labor Day.
DTE will be paying the $10 daily entrance fees starting on Friday, August 20.
“DTE was looking for ways to thank their valued customers, reached out to the Metroparks, and we absolutely like to partner with other organizations in our region that are trying to make a difference within the community,” said Danielle Mauter, Chief of Marketing and Communications for Huron-Clinton Metroparks.
As of Thursday morning, just over 1,000 people remain without power in metro Detroit, with about 55 DTE crews currently out in the field doing repairs.
