DETROIT (WWJ) -- One of the most popular donut shops in Detroit will not open its doors today.
In a message posted on Facebook, Dutch Girl Donuts on 7 Mile Road and Woodward said they are temporarily pausing operations while they try to get enough workers to stay open full time.
“In an effort to resume a full staff and hours that we have prided ourselves on for 75 years, we have decided to temporarily pause operations,” they wrote. “Dutch Girl will be closed starting 9/1. We appreciate all your support over the years and will continue to keep you updated.”
It's unknown when the beloved donut shop will reopen, but customers are already feeling their absence.
"I sincerely hope that the management of Dutch Girl Donuts realize how much they're a cornerstone in the community," one person commented on the bakery's Facebook post. "They've fed so many people, given so many people a cheery way to start a morning, and have been a huge part of Detroiters' lives ... Come back soon."
