E-bike rider killed in crash with Oakland County Road Commission truck in Ferndale

FERNDALE (WWJ) -- A person riding an e-bike was hit and killed by a Road Commission for Oakland County work truck in Ferndale.


According to the Ferndale Police Department, the crash happened just before 1 p.m. Thursday, at the intersection of Woodward Avenue and College Street, near 9 Mile Road.

Police and EMS responded, and the e-bike rider — identified as a 33-year-old Ferndale resident — was pronounced dead at the scene.

No one else was hurt.

The circumstances leading up to the crash are still under investigation, with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office assisting Ferndale Police.

"The Ferndale Police Department extends its deepest condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time," the Ferndale PD said, in a statement.

No names have been released.
