EAST LANSING (WWJ) - A young motorcyclist from Livonia is dead after he slammed into a vehicle at an East Lansing intersection on Wednesday evening.
The East Lansing Police Department said they're continuing to investigate the fatal incident, which occurred just before 9 p.m. on Oct. 11 where Abbot Road crosses Lake Lansing Road.
According to their preliminary investigation, a vehicle traveling northbound on Abbot Road attempted to make a left-hand turn onto Lake Lansing Road when it was hit by a motorcyclist headed southbound on Abbot Road.
Police said the motorcyclist, identified as a 19-year-old male from Livonia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
At this time, authorities believe the 19-year-old was speeding when the crash occurred, but the investigation remains ongoing.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs were contributing factors.
