EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - A FedEx worker accused of keeping tens of thousands of dollars worth of goods that were supposed to be delivered to Foot Locker in Eastpointe is expected to be charged on Wednesday.
According to police, the delivery worker -- whose name and hometown were not released -- is expected to be arraigned on embezzlement charges in 38th District Court, the Macomb Daily reported
The FedEx employee is accused of stealing around $100,000 worth of sporting equipment that was meant to be delivered to the Foot Locker store -- instead, police said the employee kept it.
“We are still investigating this case and we are attempting to see if additional suspects will be added,” said Detective Lt. Robert Koenigsmann told the Macomb Daily.
The detective said they were made aware of the alleged embezzlement late Monday and by Tuesday had the worker in custody.
Koenigsmann said the FedEx employee more than likely kept items from more than one delivery.
“The allegations center on him keeping the goods that were supposed to be delivered to the store,” he said.
It remains unclear what happened to the stolen goods.
The Foot Locker involved in case is a 8,500-square-foot facility located on Eight Mile Rd near Gratiot Ave.
It is a well-visited location that sells band-name athletic shoes, clothing and accessories for men, women and children.
