EASTPOINTE (WWJ) -- An Eastpointe man is facing criminal charges after police say he went into a rage in a dispute over school snack time.
Eastpointe Police officers responded at around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 22, to a call about a shooting threat at Pleasantview Elementary, on Toepfer Dr., east of Gratiot.
An investigation found that a parent, upset that his child didn't get "snack time" that day, had confronted the teacher at dismissal time.
Police said the dad questioned the teacher as to why his child didn't get a snack, then allegedly "started screaming, cursing, and threatening" the teacher, in front of staff, students and parents.
Police said the suspect threatened multiple times to come back the next day and "air the place out" — which the Eastpointe PD said "is a common slang term meaning to shoot up the place."
Eastpointe road patrol, the School Resource Officer, Detective Bureau, and Special Investigative Unit responded.
No one was hurt.
The suspect — identified as 44-year-old David Scott — was found at his girlfriend's house in Eastpointe, police said. He was taken into custody within two hours of the incident.
Police noted that Scott is a convicted felon.
He has since been arraigned on charges of Felon - possession of ammunition by prohibited person and Disorderly Conduct, issued by the Macomb County Prosecutor's Office.
Bond was set at $150,000.
Police added, in a news release: "Eastpointe Police Department wants to advise the public that any threats of violence toward the school or any other establishment will be taken seriously and investigated promptly. The safety of the children is of the highest priority."
