EASTPOINTE (WWJ) – The search is on for a porch pirate in Eastpointe who has been riding around on bikes and stealing packages.
Eastpointe police officials on Monday released a photo of the suspect, who they say has stolen packages off porches across the city at least five times since the start of July.
All the thefts have happened in the early afternoon to mid-evening hours and have been caught on surveillance cameras, according to police.
Authorities did not specify where any of the alleged thefts happened.
Police describe the suspect as a Black male with dark hair and a medium build. He is often seen wearing dark clothes and carrying a backpack or duffle bag, according to police.
He has been spotted riding different colored mountain bikes, including white, silver and red bikes. He was also seen on a “BMX-style bike,” according to police.
Authorities are asking anyone who recognizes the suspect, sees him in their neighborhood or knows something about the thefts to call the Eastpointe Police Department at (586) 777-6700.
“We'd like for all of our residents to receive the packages they've worked so hard to pay for,” a press release from the department said.
