EASTPOINTE (WWJ) Eastpointe officers rescued a baby from an impounded vehicle in a tow yard, police said.

Eastpointe Police said they were called to the tow yard in an unknown location on Saturday, February 28 for a 13-month-old infant found alive in an impounded vehicle on a cold winter day.

Police did not release any information on how the child ended up in the tow yard.

"Our department is in contact with local agencies to investigate the circumstances surrounding the vehicle's impoundment as it was not a vehicle our department had contact with prior to this report," Easpointe Police said in a written statement.

Authorities tell WWJ doctors are examining the child.
