(WWJ) - More closures are happening on I-96 for the flex route, but officials say this year’s construction should be wrapping up soon.
Eastbound I-96 will be closed from Milford Road to Novi Road from 4 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 and 4 a.m. to 9 a.m. on Nov. 12 so workers can hang overhead signs.
Officials said the signs are being installed in preparation for traffic returning to its normal configuration for the winter. There will be additional closures Nov. 18 and 19.
The closure will have traffic detoured onto southbound Milford Road to eastbound Grand River Avenue, then onto northbound Novi Road and back onto eastbound I-96.
Westbound I-96 will be down to one lane from Wixom Road to Kent Lake Road starting 5 a.m. Nov. 11 to 5 p.m. Nov. 12.
Ramps will also be closed intermittently during this time. Wixom Road to westbound I-96, westbound I-96 to northbound Milford Road, Westbound I-96 to southbound Milford Road, Milford Road to westbound I-96 and westbound I-96 to Kent Lake Road will all be affected by intermittent closures.
Currently, road crews plan to have this year’s work completed by early December which will allow three lanes to be open on I-96 in both directions as well as all the entrance and exit ramps. Construction will restart in March 2024 on westbound I-96.
