DETROIT (WWJ) --- A 45-year-old man who works as an administrator at a Downriver school has been arrested and charged in the sexual assault of a child.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office on Monday announced its case against Melven Conway of Ecorse, who is an assistant principal at Ecorse High School, in connection with an alleged crime committed several years ago.

The victim, who is now in her mid-teens, filed a police report last spring saying that she was sexually assaulted by Conway in a Detroit home when she was 10 years old.
Conway is a relative of the alleged victim, prosecutors said.
He was taken into custody by Detroit Police with help from Wayne County Sheriff's deputies Monday morning and was scheduled to appear from an arraignment Monday afternoon in 36th District Court.
In a statement, Ecorse Schools Superintendent Josha Talison said the district is aware of the arrest and will be working with all law enforcement agencies as the investigation continues. "As always, the security of our students and staff is our number one priority," Talison added.
Conway faces one count of Criminal Sexual Conduct First Degree - person under 13 years.
