HARRISON TWP. (WWJ) — An elderly man is dead after authorities found him in the canal behind his home in Harrison Township.
Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a home on Bayhaven Drive Friday morning for reports of a missing 80-year-old man.
When deputies showed up they found the man unresponsive in the canal behind his home.
Deputies went into the canal and brought the man to shore and immediately began CPR. Harrison Twp. fire personnel responded to the scene and continued lifesaving efforts.
The man was pronounced dead after being rushed to the hospital.
The sheriff’s office is investigating to determine how the man wound up in the canal.
Officials didn’t say how long the man had been reported missing or if foul play was suspected.
