
ORION TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Authorities are continuing to investigate after an senior citizen was struck by a vehicle while crossing M-24 in Oakland County on Tuesday evening.
The crash occurred after sundown on April 18 along M-24, as known as Lapeer Road, and Lake Orion Road in Orion Township. Officials said an elderly man was crossing M-24 when he was hit by a vehicle.
As reported by WDIV, the incident was considered "serious" and forced the closure of M-24 as deputies with the Oakland County Sheriff's Office investigated the scene just after 11 p.m.
The victim's condition remains unknown at this time.
The driver of the vehicle stopped at the scene. Deputies have not said whether alcohol and speed were factors in the crash.
The investigation remains in its preliminary stages. More information is expected to be released as it becomes available.
