DETROIT (WWJ) – An elderly woman has died after a fire on Detroit's west side Saturday evening.
The fire broke out on Hartwell Street, near Grand River and Schaefer, around 5 p.m., according to Detroit police.
When firefighters responded to the fire they found the woman inside. She was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Authorities have not released the woman's name or age, but officials told WWJ she was elderly.
It was not clear if anyone else was in the home at the time of the fire.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
