NOVI (WWJ) — An elderly woman has died after a crash in Novi that left roads closed for several hours Sunday morning.
Novi police officials tell WWJ the crash happened shortly after 7 a.m. at the intersection of M-5 and 13 Mile Road
The woman was driving a Buick SUV east on 13 Mile when she hit the driver of a Dodge Ram — a man in his 50s — who was headed south on M-5.
The woman was found unresponsive and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Dodge sustained minor injuries.
Authorities have not released the woman's exact age or hometown.
With the investigation still underway, authorities have not released any further details about the crash, including what may have caused the woman to hit the truck. Officials believe the woman may have run a red light.
Officials did say, however, that alcohol and drugs have been ruled out as factors in the crash.
The crash left M-5 closed in both directions for more about three hours Sunday morning.
