ROMULUS (WWJ) - Driving home from work turned dangerous for one man on Tuesday evening after another driver allegedly fired shots at his vehicle during a suspected road rage confrontation on I-94, state police said.

According to MSP, troopers responded to the home of the male driver who said he was shot at while driving eastbound on I-94 between Lonyo and Livernois in Romulus just before 9 p.m.

The victim told police he was driving home from work in Romulus when he got onto EB I-94 from Ecorse Road. As he was driving, he noticed a red sedan tailgating him from Ecorse until Lonyo Road, troopers said.

The red sedan then pulled next to the victim’s car and they stared at each other before the driver of the red sedan produced a weapon and fired once at the victim.

The victim said the bullet struck his passenger side rear door and window, causing damage, police added.

Authorities said the man was not injured in the alleged incident; he left the freeway at Livernois Avenue and drove home.

Police said the victim did not have a description of the driver of the red sedan and could not identify the make and model of the vehicle involved in the suspected shooting.

Police closed the freeway during the night to recover any evidence, but turned up empty-handed.

State police are still investigating the matter and have asked anyone who knows about the incident to contact the Metro South Post at 734-287-5000.
